Starting school is a major milestone for both children and parents. At St Brigid’s we believe in the adage - It takes a village to raise a child - working together as a team allows for a positive transition from PreSchool to Foundation.
A smooth transition allows for academic success and positive wellbeing. This creates an environment where both parents and child feel safe and secure. It reduces anxiety and builds trust with the school so everyone has a successful education journey.
At St Brigid’s we off an extensive transition program which begins with a:
Get to Know You interview with the principal
Storytime where the principal reads a story and completes an art activity with the children
4 transition sessions to be held in November/December
The key benefits of participating in our transition program are:
Social and emotional development
Academic Readiness and Success
Parental Engagement with the school
In summary, a positive transition from kindergarten to primary school is essential for fostering emotional stability, academic readiness, social competence, and long-term educational success. It involves coordinated efforts from teachers, parents, and the school community to create a supportive and welcoming environment for children as they embark on this significant milestone in their educational journey.
